Flamingo Names Lopez for Behavioural Science Role

UK-based consumer and cultural insight agency Flamingo has hired former TNS BMRB Chief Exec Desirée Lopez for a newly created role, Head of Behavioural and Social Strategy, leading its behavioural science offer and its Social Purpose specialist unit.

In addition to its offices in London, Omnicom DAS-owned Flamingo operates from Mumbai, New York, São Paulo, Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta and Tokyo. In recent years, the agency has set up several specialist practices, including Digital Forensics and Social Purpose, to expand its core people and cultural insight business.

Lopez (pictured) joined Kantar in 2012 as Head of Qualitative, after leading the Communications and Behaviour Change research practice at EdComs, and having previously spent five years at the Institute of Education, leading research to inform policy and practice in the area of adult basic skills. She was promoted to CEO of TNS BMRB in 2015, when she was also named UK Executive Director for the WPP Government Practice, and the Head of the WPP Faculty. The latter has offerings at Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government and the Lee Kwan Yu School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.

Lopez will now be part of Flamingo's senior leadership team, working across its client base internationally. Co-CEOs Edny Tappy and Sam Gomez said in a statement: 'Behaviour change and applied cognitive science are key components of understanding consumer and citizen choices, and we want to ensure that it is absolutely embedded at the core of our business. That means bringing somebody who is an absolute authority in the field, and when we met Desirée we knew that there was no one else for it - we welcome her to the Flamingo team'.
