Research Awards for Robert Worcester

August 9 2001

MORI chairman Professor Robert Worcester has been recently feted with honours for his political research contributions. MORI has announced that he has received no less than three awards for his work as the UK's foremost pollster.

Firstly, it is understood that he has become only the third US citizen to be awarded Freedom of the City of London (the first was Raymond Seitz, former US Ambassador). Whilst presenting Worcester with the award, Michael Snyder (from the Corporation of London) paid tribute to him saying, "Rare is the occasion, whenever a major issue is being debated, that we are left without the clear and concise analysis of the public's views, which Bob regularly gives."

In addition, Prof. Worcester has now also received an Honorary Doctorate from Middlesex University and an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from the University of Bradford. At both events, he was praised for his years of work in the field and for his significant role in raising the profile of public opinion research in the UK.
