The Association for Qualitative Research (AQR) has announced the appointment of Ann Whalley as its new Chair. Ann, who has served on the AQR committee for six years, replaces outgoing Chair, Rachel Ormrod, with immediate effect.
In her time at the AQR, Ann has been responsible for contributing a number of significant initiatives to the Association, including the development of the "Qualitative Recruitment Guidelines and Best Practice"; co-writing a new vision and targets for the AQR; and the development of field courses. Prior to her appointment as AQR Chair, Ann served as the Association's Treasurer. She is also the Chair of the sub-committee for this year's Trends Day (being held at the end of October), the AQR's annual one-day Conference which examines innovations in qualitative research.
Ann brings to the role 20 years experience in qualitative research, having worked, firstly, for a number of agencies, before setting up her own practice eight years ago. She is currently managing director of The People Partnership.
