ATR Australia Wins Regional TV Ratings Tender

January 28 2002

ATR Australia has recently been selected to provide television audience measurement services for the regional free to air television markets of Queensland, Northern NSW, Southern NSW (including ACT), Victoria and Tasmania.

According to Chris O'Connell, Convenor of the Survey Tender Committee, 'We were pleased to receive proposals from three companies and determined that ATR offered the most appropriate service for our next contract. They are part of the AGB Worldwide Group who are recognised as the leading provider of television ratings measurements services in the world.'

ATR currently provides the data collection service for metropolitan free to air networks and combines with OzTam to deliver an effective and efficient service using the latest technology people meters. These meters are less intrusive than previously used and have the capacity when required to measure digital television.

Once operational, there will be an increase in the number of homes with people meters across regional population centres in the above markets. 'The increase to the number of meters will provide a robust and reliable sample from which to draw conclusions about viewing behaviours of regional Australians.' added Mr O'Connell.

Following a three month testing period official regional television ratings measurements by ATR Australia are expected to commence in January next year.
