Award for Best International Papers

At the recent Net Effects 5 Conference, the ESOMAR Programme Committee met to select the nominations for the John and Mary Goodyear Award of Best International Papers.

The first nominations went to the paper titled: Case Study, Innovations in click stream analysis. Clicksteps: A whole sequence approach, by Pieter Willems, Director of CMA E-velop, and Paul Oosterveld, Consultant Research Methodology and Statistics, Centrum voor Marketing Analyses, Netherlands.

Clicksteps is a new approach to analysing click streams of individual visitors to a site. The approach focuses on the entire sequence, in contrast to the single page oriented focus of current weblog analysis tools. It provides practical insights into the information needs of prospects and customers of a business organisation.

Nominations also went to the paper: Case Study, Combining online surveys, traditional interviewing techniques and web-based reporting to measurably improve Honeywell's market research by William Stone, President, WKS:CSM Consulting, USA and Karl Feld, Vice President, humanvoice, USA.

Honeywell replaced its international telephone data collection and paper-based tabulation and reporting with blended telephone, online and e-Interviewing data collection and real-time reporting. Together with web-based reporting tools, this combination delivered improved customer satisfaction measurement and service benefits and also increased ROI.

These two papers will be published in the ESOMAR Yearbook entitled 'Excellence in International Research 2003'.
