New Thai Business for Video Research

February 26 2002

Video Research, a media and marketing information company in Japan, has just opened a new company Video Research International (Thailand) in Bangkok.

The new company will offer a wide range of marketing information services in Thailand and will bid for the national television audience measurement service contract.

'Thailand is one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia,' said Tetsutaro (Tom) Umeda, Managing Director, VRIT. 'We strongly believe that by establishing our new company in Thailand, we will bring tremendous benefits to our clients focusing Thai market. In addition, VRIT has begun preparing for its participation in the bidding process for the national television audience measurement service contract in Thailand.'

The contract is expected to be awarded and announced this Spring. If awarded the contract, VRIT plans to incorporate Video Research's proprietary People Meter System for television audience measurement throughout Thailand. The proprietary People Meter System measures more than1000 channels and has the unique ability to track the usage of peripherals devices attached to the television set, such as VCR, DVD players and video game machines. In Japan, Video Research's television audience measurement operation using this system has earned the ISO9001 certification.

Video Research International (Thailand) Ltd., now provides Thai ACR (Audience and Consumer Report), a Thai-specific syndicated single source survey offered by Video Research Ltd. since 2000. VRIT plans to introduce marketing information services, including a variety of syndicated reports, customized research and consulting services to better serve its multinational clients.
