New Business Venture at NOP World

NOP World, the market research division of United Business Media PLC, has recently announced the formation of a new business, RoperNOP Consulting.

RoperNOP Consulting is a research-based consulting business that aims to offer clients high-level consultancy services in brand strategy, customer-centric business solutions and analytic CRM. It will be lead by Richard Hermon-Taylor, a consultant with over 30 years' experience, whose previous assignments include consulting positions at Boston Consulting Group and Abt Associates as well as at his own consulting practice.

The new unit will concentrate on programmatic consulting in three areas of considerable significance for corporate leaders:


  • Brand Strategy - Market research is usually used in this area to aid in the formulation of brand strategy but there exists a lack of resource to help companies operationalise that strategy. RoperNOP Consulting will offer programs, based on NOP World's recently launched LifeMatrix segmentation service, aimed at both formulation and implementation of brand strategy, as well as tools for monitoring and evaluating its success.
  • Customer-centric business solutions - Again, while there exist many research solutions for measuring customer loyalty, there exist few which are capable (based on research-generated facts rather than just theory) of building knowledge on how to generate loyalty. Based on NOP World's capabilities in the fields of customer satisfaction and loyalty, RoperNOP Consulting will offer programmatic and customized solutions to companies desiring to place the customer at the centre of their strategy.
  • Analytic CRM - companies are investing hundreds of millions of dollars in sophisticated customer relationship management (CRM) technologies designed to enhance one-on-one relationships with their customers and so extract greater profit from each. Yet fully 70% of companies have yet to see any return on their investment. In part, this is due to companies ignoring the customer's desires for such a relationship - what is it that customers actually want? Market research has, for decades, been the prime arbiter of customer needs and desires. RoperNOP Consulting will aim to bring together research-driven understanding of customer needs with in-depth expertise in how to design CRM systems to produce the types of information and insight that drives customer profitability.


The essential aim of RoperNOP Consulting is to bring key consulting expertise into critical areas of concern to management in delivering on marketing strategies on the basis of sound and innovative market research. As such, it is hoped that the new business occupies a unique but highly lucrative niche in the consulting market.
