December 20 2002

ESOMAR is launching its third Global Healthcare event, to be held in New York, on 23-25 February next year. 'Targeting to Win: the challenge for the global healthcare industries' will focuses on the needs, threats, opportunities and challenges of segmentation and targeting in the global healthcare industries.

'The healthcare industries serve billions of people across the globe resulting in huge opportunities to market to the masses, but to successfully launch the new drugs globally - differentiation, segmentation and targeting is a must' says Dirk Huisman, Programme Committee Chairman, ...'and with 40% of the global pharmaceutical market in the USA, New York is an excellent meeting point for marketing researchers, analysts and researchers worldwide'

Neil Mahoney, Vice President of Global Competitive Intelligence, Pharmacia Corporation will open the conference giving his vision of how the pharmaceutical industry is developing, and will question what were the drivers of the recent Merger and Acquisitions and will they continue.

Richard Vanderveer, Chairman and CEO of V2, USA and Monika Giese, Head of Business Intelligence and Analysis, F Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., Switzerland will also address key note speeches.

The conference will include an overview on the segmentation techniques available, a regional update on targeting outside the G5 countries and will question whether the Internet is the incubator of new patient segmentation and targeting solutions. International speakers (Eli Lilly, Vividence Corporation, Censydiam, etc.) will address whether the different players in the industry (patients, prescribers, payers) can be effectively linked and will compare and debate whether the market segmentation defined by the global office is effective in the regional approach.
