The Fate of NFO

January 18 2003

The Interpublic Group, one of the world's largest advertising and marketing organisations, has just announced that it has engaged Goldman Sachs to explore strategic alternatives regarding its NFO WorldGroup research unit.

The nature of these strategic alternatives has not been released. There has already been speculation in the industry that Interpublic was looking to offload NFO.

With 15,000 employees in 65 offices in 40 markets around the world, NFO WorldGroup is a global leader in providing companies and brands with custom research-based information. Key market sectors include packaged goods and foods, healthcare, financial services, high-tech and telecommunications, travel and leisure, automotive and business-to-business. The agency's revenues have grown at a compounded annual rate of 40% for the past seven years, making it one of the three largest custom-research firms in the world, as well as number one in North America.
