Ipsos are Fastest Growing US Agency

July 10 2003

Ipsos are the fastest growing market research firm in the US for the second year running, with US revenue growth of 14.8 per cent in 2001-2 and a total of 443 per cent between 1997 and 2002, according to the 'Inside Research' newsletter.

According to the newsletter, the industry average growth in revenues was 67% over the five-year period and just 3.5 per cent in 2001-2, based on financial results from 187 companies.

Ipsos North America includes a number of high-profile companies:

  • Ipsos-ASI, founded in 1962 and acquired in 1998
  • Ipsos-Insight, formerly Ipsos-NPD (founded 1953, acquired 2001)
  • Ipsos-Reid (1979, 2000)
  • Ipsos-Novaction (1972, 2001)
  • Ipsos-Public Affairs, formerly Riehle Research (2000, 2001)
  • Ipsos-Vantis (1990, 2002).

'We are extremely pleased to be recognized, once again, for our robust performance in the US', said Simon Kooyman, CEO of Ipsos North America. 'One reason we've been able to substantially outpace the industry is our strategy of niche acquisitions in our specializations - advertising, customer loyalty, forecasting and modelling, marketing, and public opinion research. But more importantly, we have shown a strong organic growth of 10% in 2001 and 13.5% in 2002'.

Revenues from Ipsos' US operations reached $145 million in 2002; total revenues for Ipsos in North America in 2002 were $211 million, up 23% from $172 million in 2001; worldwide annual revenues were in excess of $500 million.
