US TV Audience up 1.6% on the Year

Recent figures from Nielsen Media Research put the total number of television households in the
USA (including Alaska and Hawaii) at an estimated 108,400,000. This represents an increase of 1.7 million television households, or 1.6%, from the 2002-2003 season.

The figure will be used to calculate numbers for national rating points from this week and will be used for the entire 2003-2004 television season. The estimates are produced annually and based on information from a variety of sources, including Claritas, the United States Census Bureau and Nielsen Media Research's samples. Estimates for various demographics, rounded to the nearest hundred thousand, are given in the table below.
