New Regional MD for Observer

Stockholm-based agency the Observer Group has named Andreas Falkenmark as MD of its operations in Sweden and the Nordic & Baltic region. The company operates in the region under the Observer and Waymaker brand names.

Falkenmark, 48, has 20 years of experience in branding, marketing, sales and corporate management. Most recently he was president of the consumer cooperative Coop's Swedish operations and vice president of its Nordic operations. Prior to this he worked for Swedish retailer ICA, the housewares chain Duka AB and NK Förvaltning AB.

Sales in the Nordic & Baltic region, which encompasses Sweden, Germany, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, amounted to SEK 566 million for full-year 2003. Globally the group has around 2,400 employees and a turnover of just over SEK 1.5 billion in 2003. It also operates in the US, UK, Canada, Portugal and Ireland.

Hans Strand, the acting manager of Sweden and the Nordic region, will return to Observer AB when Falkenmark takes up the new post on March 15. The group's web site is at www.observergroup.com
