Another Acquisition for App Annie

March 14 2016

App store analytics specialist App Annie has acquired San Francisco-based mobile ad metrics provider AppScotch, which it says will boost its technology capabilities.

Venture capital-backed AppScotch was founded in 2013 by Andrey Kazakov and Max Gannutin.

App Annie bought Amsterdam-based rival Distimo in May 2014 and Canadian mobile and smartphone data usage analytics and measurement company Mobidia a year later. Since then, its coffers have been swelled by a $63m funding round, adding to earlier cash injections totalling $94m. Headquartered in San Francisco and employing around 425 people in fifteen global offices, it offers data products tracking revenue, downloads, advertising, user metrics and consumer engagement for 'all leading apps'.

CEO & co-founder Bertrand Schmitt comments: 'We are always looking for technologies and talent that enhance our products and mission. The AppScotch team shares our passion for apps and has developed some exciting complementary technology. App Annie is developing its next wave of innovative products that clients will find invaluable in planning their app development and marketing strategies and this acquisition supports this development'.
