Fuller Leaves Embattled Flamingo, Lopez Named CEO

May 15 2017

Less than two months after joining UK-based consumer and cultural insight agency Flamingo, Desirée Lopez has been named Chief Executive Officer, replacing co-founder Kirsty Fuller who is leaving the business. Seven of the company's eight global offices are being closed by parent Omnicom.

Desirée Lopez and Kirsty FullerThe ad giant announced the closures of Flamingo's locations in Mumbai, New York, São Paulo, Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta and Tokyo a month ago, citing 'underperformance'. It aims for the consumer and cultural insight specialist to focus on growth opportunities in London.

Lopez joined two months ago as Head of Behavioural and Social Strategy, leading Flamingo's behavioural science offer and its Social Purpose specialist unit. She had previously served as CEO of TNS BMRB (now Kantar Public UK), while also working as UK Executive Director of the WPP Government Practice, and the Head of the WPP Faculty at the University of Oxford and the National University of Singapore. She joined Kantar in 2012 as Head of Qualitative, after leading the Communications and Behaviour Change research practice at EdComs, and having previously spent five years at the Institute of Education.

Fuller comments: 'For the best part of twenty years, Maggie Collier and I co-led the business we founded together. We remain great friends. We were a great team. We had the privilege of working with the most talented, stimulating and fun people you could imagine. But it is time for change. Desirée is a proven agency leader bringing new expertise and a wealth of innovation experience to Flamingo. I wish her and the team every success'.
