Job Spec: This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australia's most progressive independent insights consultancies, where behavioural science, qualitative research, advanced analytics, AI and strategic thinking come together to solve complex human problems.
We're looking for a Research & Strategy Director with 6-8+ years' experience who is genuinely dualist in their approach. Someone who enjoys blending quantitative rigour with qualitative depth to uncover the 'what', 'why' and 'what next' for clients across both commercial and public sectors.
Why this agency stands out
- Variety that keeps you curious: Work across consumer, government and not-for-profit clients tackling everything from brand strategy and innovation to policy, behaviour change, customer experience and service design.
- Integrated thinking: Qualitative research, quantitative research, behavioural science, cultural insights, AI and strategy work side by side rather than in silos.
- Leading-edge methodologies: Combining traditional research excellence with emerging technologies and AI-powered approaches to deliver richer, faster insights.
- People-first culture: Collaborative, supportive and genuinely flexible, with hybrid working, excellent benefits and a strong focus on wellbeing and professional growth.
Your role: Research. Strategise. Influence.
As a Research & Strategy Director, you'll:
- Lead end-to-end mixed methods research programmes across both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Partner with commercial and government clients as a trusted advisor, helping solve complex business, customer and societal challenges.
- Design bespoke research approaches spanning U&A, segmentation, brand strategy, customer experience, communications testing, behavioural research, evaluation and policy research.
- Translate findings into compelling stories and strategic recommendations that influence decision-makers.
- Facilitate workshops, present to senior stakeholders and build lasting client relationships.
- Collaborate with strategists, behavioural scientists, data specialists and qualitative and quantitative researchers to deliver integrated thinking.
- Explore new methodologies, AI tools and emerging research approaches to continually elevate client outcomes.
What you'll bring- 6-8+ years' experience in agency-side market, social or behavioural research.
- Strong experience across both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, with confidence leading integrated research programmes.
- Experience working across commercial, government or a combination of both sectors.
- Outstanding storytelling and consulting skills, with the ability to turn evidence into actionable strategy.
- A naturally curious mindset and a passion for understanding people, behaviour and decision-making.
- Strong client leadership skills with experience managing senior stakeholders and growing relationships.
If you're looking for a role where no two weeks are the same, where you'll work across both purpose-led and commercial challenges, and where integrated thinking is genuinely valued, we'd love to hear from you.
