Job Spec: When this business publishes research, the super and wealth industry reads it. This is a rare chance to become a leading name in financial services research. Join a 100% independently owned consultancy with two decades in the Australian market, a global footprint and a reputation that carries real weight. Their research doesn't sit in a drawer. It gets quoted, debated and acted on.
They partner with many of Australia's leading super funds, banks, private banks and wealth managers, often through relationships built over many years. The work spans custom and syndicated research across investor and adviser sentiment, brand strategy, client satisfaction, customer journey and market positioning. The business is well known for its thought leadership, and the subject matter is fascinating and varied: how different generations think about investing, what intergenerational wealth transfer means for the industry, whether women investors receive the same level of service as men, and how Australians prepare for and experience retirement, to name just a few.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, genuinely public-facing role. You'll lead research programs end to end, own a portfolio of senior client relationships and represent the business at conferences, on webinars, in the media and in print. If you love to write and are just as comfortable with the numbers, this role was built for you.
There's real room to grow. They want someone who can step up, build a profile in market and help shape the future of the business. Part of that is helping commercialise the thought leadership they produce, finding new ways to package, syndicate and earn from their insights.
What you'll be doing
- Leading syndicated and custom quant programs from brief to boardroom
- Designing robust studies and signing off the analysis before anything reaches a client
- Turning data into a clear point of view that tells clients what to do next
- Presenting to executive teams and industry audiences, and holding your ground when challenged
- Writing and fronting thought leadership, from reports and blogs to webinars and conference stages
- Spotting commercial opportunities in client conversations and shaping proposals and pricing
- Coaching and developing researchers across onshore and offshore teams
- Helping shape how the team uses AI in analysis and reporting.
About you- 6-8+ years' market research experience, ideally agency or consultancy side, at Associate Director or Research Director level
- A strong quant toolkit: survey design, sampling and weighting, segmentation and market sizing, with Q or SPSS (R or Python a bonus)
- A polished, practised presenter who is confident in front of senior audiences
- A sharp writer who leads with the finding, not the frequencies
- People management experience, or a clear appetite to lead a team
- Financial services experience is a plus, but real curiosity about super, wealth and investment matters more
- Ambitious, commercially minded and keen to be recognised as an authority in the space.
Coming from financial services, financial journalism or policy, with strong quantitative B2B and B2C research skills? They'd love to hear from you too.
Why join?
Big reputation, small team: the energy of an entrepreneurial business with the resources of a much bigger one.
Global reach: international clients, plus the chance to travel or work from their overseas offices.
Serious investment in you: leadership that genuinely backs education, training, travel and building your personal brand.
