Job Spec: Opportunity for an experienced statistician to join a major regulator in a well-respected and established evidence team. Working with fellow researchers and data analysts, you will bring significant statistical work experience, ideally gained from a similar role in the public sector or a relatable business.

This role is to support the Evidence, Research and Analysis team in delivering the organisation's analytical and research capability and is critical in supporting strategic transformation objectives to create a best-in-class evidence function. Bringing strong analytical and data analysis skills, problem-solving experience, the use of statistical/programmatical and business intelligence software packages you will be designing, analysing and delivering results using complex data sets.

As well as leading analytical projects from inception to completion and ensuring methodological rigour, you will be focused on working in partnership with stakeholders and must be experienced in producing and communicating your insights and directly reporting analytical recommendations within an organisation and to wider stakeholders. Projects are across regulatory strategy, activity and policy, making recommendations on prioritisation, policy impact and risk mitigations.

We seek:

• Postgraduate education in a relevant subject (e.g numerical or subject with a significant component of statistics) or equivalent professional experience.
• Expert/practitioner proficiency in statistical and analytical software, including one of R (preferred), SQL, and Python, and working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI (or similar data visualisation tools).
• Expert/practitioner knowledge of bivariate / multivariate statistical modelling, time series analysis, and forecasting.
• Expert experience of evaluating data sources for suitability, reliability & accuracy; and extracting data from complex data warehouses.
• Regulatory experience is highly desirable
• Practitioner level communication of complex analytics in a clear and accurate manner; translating this into business needs and explaining its relevance.
