Job Spec:

Do you have a knack for unravelling the mysteries of human behaviour? Fancy yourself as a 'Why-ologist'?

This agency is unquestionably the most innovative Research and insights consultancy across the APAC region, with fast-growing offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland and clients in every corner of the globe.

With their finger firmly on the pulse, they deeply understand people's behaviour and the why behind it, allowing them to deliver solutions that solve commercial problems from branding to new product development, customer experience and innovation.

What sets them apart?

  • They excel at transforming intricate issues into clear solutions.
  • They partner with commercial & social clients across all industries.
  • They thrive in navigating ambiguity and pushing boundaries.
  • Their client relationships are rooted in empathy and understanding.
  • They are renowned for uncovering the 'why' behind behaviour, not just the 'what.'
  • Their team seamlessly integrates strategic, creative, and analytical thinking.
  • Methodologically versatile, they cover qual, quant, strategy, trends, AI, branding, and behavioural science.
The role: Qualitative Research Consultant

Joining the Melbourne team means experiencing the best of both worlds: the flexibility and excitement of a trailblazing start-up bolstered by one of the APAC region's largest and most successful independent-owned agencies. All projects are bespoke, spanning various topics - branding, segmentation, innovation, communications, new product development, service design, CX and cultural forecasting.

Your key responsibilities will encapsulate:
  • Assisting with proposal writing
  • Attending client briefs and deeply understanding problems
  • Designing research methodologies
  • Running qualitative fieldwork independently or with mentoring
  • Generating insights, recommendations and solutions that add value
  • Project management, ensuring projects are running on time and to budget
  • Delivering impactful reports, presentations and workshops that provide clarity to clients
  • Expanding your skill set to include various methodologies - from IDIs and focus groups to qualitative workshops, co-creation sessions, ethnography, user experience studies, online communities, and nuanced behavioural observations.
Whilst this role will see you sitting within the qualitative division, you'll have exposure to all practices and ways of thinking, furthering your skills, methodological toolbox, and ability to problem-solve and think critically.

Life within the agency:

People are at the core of everything this agency does, and they've cultivated an environment that supports, empowers, and champions both the individual and collective. They have amazing benefits - additional annual leave, volunteering days, amazing offices, flexible working tailored around you, paid sabbaticals, unlimited unpaid leave, time-in-lieu, office dogs, continuous investment into R&D, tailored development plans and quick progression.

Qualifications we're seeking:
  • A passion for understanding people, brands, culture, and behaviour.
  • Previous qualitative research experience in research, insights, or management consultancy.
  • Hands-on experience managing qualitative research projects.
  • The ability to simplify complex information.
