Job Spec: Independently owned, innovative and highly respected, our client is an award-winning Research and Insights consultancy at the forefront of behavioural science.

Experts at uncovering the subconscious influences that shape human behaviour, they solve real-world problems for a prestigious profile of local and international commercial brands, NGOs, and government departments.

They de-code human behaviour by combining academic rigour with qualitative and quantitative research, behavioural science, cultural insights, advanced analytics, and creative thinking. Resulting in the delivery of practical and implementable behavioural interventions, nudges and solutions that result in positive behaviour change.

Projects are entirely customised and shape social policies, communications, service design, experience, new product development and innovation across meaningful topics such as sustainability, transport, education, gender equality, road safety, drug use, and mental health.

Research Director - Behavioural Insights

As the business grows due to amazing success and new client accounts, they're looking to add to their leadership team. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to be at the centre of strategic decision-making for S&G and commercial clients and enjoys leading teams, deepening stakeholder relationships and driving positive commercial and societal growth.

Core responsibilities:

  • Building meaningful, trusted, and rewarding client partnerships
  • Winning proposals and government tenders
  • Leading multidisciplinary briefs from pitch to presentation
  • Driving new business and managing a P&L
  • Interpreting qual and quant data into insights that drive tangible impact
  • Storytelling, presenting and inspiring clients into action
  • Networking thought leadership and new business development.
  • Adding a strategic lens and elevating the team's thinking and consulting capabilities
  • Leading by example, jumping on the tools when needed
  • Contributing to a culture of growth -mentoring, coaching, and managing juniors
  • Utilise innovative qual/quant/BSCI methodologies and frameworks - nudging, framing, heuristics, RCTs, ethnography, rational choice, scarcity, focus groups, IDIs, workshops, ethnography, intercepts, and observations.
We're looking to speak with thinkers who can express themselves with precision, clarity and originality and lead by example.

The ideal profile:
  • Prior senior-level agency experience in market research, insights or strategy essential
  • Source agnostic with advanced quantitative/or qualitative research skills
  • Proven ability to win business and grow accounts
  • An agile mindset, able to work across project and industry types
  • Commercially astute, unafraid to ask the hard questions
  • Equally at home behind the scenes, on tools and in the boardroom
  • Expert storyteller, presenter, and facilitator
This is an influential role, with a seat at the leadership table, progression pathways, and long-term growth plans - open to candidates in either Sydney or Melbourne.
