An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the MOPAC Evidence & Insight team as a Public Voice and Engagement Lead.

The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

Working within MOPAC - Evidence & Insight is the dedicated in-house analytics team consisting of experienced analysts and researchers. One of the primary functions of the team is the oversight and conduction of a range of largescale surveys to ensure that MOPAC captures the views of both citizens and victims.

These surveys include the Public Attitude Survey and the User Satisfaction Survey as well as several others. More information can be found here: Taking part in MOPAC's surveys | London City Hall.

The purpose here is to best supporting MOPAC and ensuring evidence and public perceptions are at the centre of policy making to make London safer.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible and hold professional leadership in this Public Voice function within the Evidence and Insight Team. In this position, you will be providing strategic direction and day-to-day leadership of the entire MOPAC Public Voice and Engagement function, offering support and advice on key national policy issues and ensuring Public Voice data is a key aspect within MOPAC decision making and influencing senior stakeholders to promote insights and practical usage of the work programme.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in working with surveys - both at an operational level (i.e., survey design) but also a strategic level in terms of overseeing or using survey data to inform and drive improvements.
  • A proven track record of effective line management and the ability to build and inspire effective teams.
  • Strong understanding of public engagement principles and experience in delivering engagement strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to senior stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership, with proven experience in line management and strategic oversight.
  • Significant experience and/or relevant programme management qualification.

Political Restriction

Political Restriction: under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011), all MOPAC staff members will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.

Security Vetting Clearance

The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting, which may take around eight weeks to complete. Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the UK and have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

Where are we based?

We have moved to a hybrid working model with office hubs at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). On average, staff will work 1-2 days a week from an Office Hub, which may differ depending on the role requirements.
