About MrWeb and the 'IC'
MrWeb, publisher of the insight industry's daily e-newspaper Daily Research News, and operator of its longest-running specialist job vacancy board, is having a great start to 2026, with advertising sell-outs and consolidation of its unique position informing the profession.
The third string to our bow is the InsightClopedia ('IC'), a new site pulling together our pre-existing directories, event listings and other database / information features into something new: a comprehensive, combined directory, search engine and reference source for MR, insight & analytics. The IC was beta-launched last year, and showed its potential - now it needs a dynamic, hard-working, preferably well-connected person to be the driving force behind its content and partnerships.
Our offices are in Send, Surrey and you'll be expected to turn up there 3 days a week to start with, potentially 2 after the initial 3-month period.
What you need, and what's in it for you
You'll need a rare combination of skills and aptitudes:
- the energy and people skills to take this new concept to the market, enthusing potential users and partners and getting them to submit content to it
- a willingness to get your head down for part of each day and add content of our own: desk researching and analysing, formatting and inputting using our own proprietary systems.
A lot of people will have one or the other of these, but you do really need both. We think together these two sides of the job will make for a great balance and an enjoyable, rewarding working day. Longer-term, your reward will be to sit at the heart of something new, and drive its success. But you'll have masses of support, from people who know the MR sector inside out and know most of the more senior and sociable people in it. We're already partners of ESOMAR, Greenbook, Women In Research and The Research Club, and suppliers to Kantar, Ipsos, YouGov, Toluna, Cint, Suzy and dozens more of the big names in insights. As news editors, we deal with everyone who wants their company to be seen in the MR world.
Working for MrWeb means getting to know the people we know, and putting yourself right in the middle of what happens in our sector: and given our plans for the IC, you can take that to a new level by helping to establish it as the daily go-to place for new kinds of information.
Experience
The job would suit someone with a few years of experience in the profession - but if you're relatively new to it, and can show you've thrown yourself into it in a short time, we're open to persuasion. A b2b researcher might be an ideal fit, given the analysis work in the 'head down' component above, but again we're open.
Who to contact: Please send a CV by email to Nick Thomas, nthomas@mrweb.com, with a short covering letter explaining why you think you're right for the role, with an indication of your experience on both the people and desk research / admin sides.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND EITHER YOUR RETURN E-MAIL ADDRESS OR TELEPHONE NUMBER IN THE MESSAGE. Please say that you found the vacancy on MrWeb! Thanks for your interest.
