Virtual community and social game teen site Habbo Hotel has introduced the Habbometer; a new monthly poll to find out what teenagers 'think is hot' and what they 'think is not'.About 65% of Habbo users are 13-16 years old. Each creates an online character called a Habbo, through which they can explore millions of 'rooms' created by other users in the virtual community, play a variety of games, connect with friends, and decorate their own 'rooms'.
The site's users come from over 150 countries, and to date, they have created more than 185 million Habbo characters. A total of around 15 million unique browsers worldwide visit Habbo Hotel each month, spending a total of 45 million hours on the site.
Teemu Huuhtanen (pictured) - who is EVP of Habbo Hotel's Finnish parent company, Sulake Corporation - says that the site has always been about creating a high quality and engaging user experience.
'We have created the Habbometer in order to gain a better understanding of our users and therefore create the best experience for them,' he adds.
The first poll, which included 47,000 teens from 33 countries, examined Habbos' relationship to music. Results from future studies will be available once a month.
