Cimigo Opens Shanghai Office

May 11 2011

Asia Pacific-based marketing and brand research consultancy Cimigo has opened an office in Shanghai, where it has appointed former Synovate executives Daisy Sam as General Manager and Marcos Leung as Director.

Daisy Sam and Marcos LeungCimigo, which employs more than 200 researchers across the Asia Pacific region, offers a wide range of services from customised research and consultancy to fieldwork and outsourcing.

Managing Partner Chris Farquhar said that the timing is now right to have a physical presence in mainland China. 'More and more of our clients are there, and it is critically important to us - and our clients - that we make this move with the right team in place,' he added.

Sam joins with 18 years' research experience, more than six of which have been focused on the China market. Most recently she worked as a Director at Synovate, and before this at Nielsen, during which time she gained both local and regional research experience in Hong Kong and China across a range of sectors.

Farquhar says Sam was 'the natural choice' to lead the Shanghai team, adding: 'Her background is in economics and sociology, meaning she has an integrated perspective on the functional, emotive and social aspects of her clients' business issues.'

Leung also joins from Synovate where he worked as an Associate Director. He has 12 years' marketing research and retail audit experience gained both agency and clientside, and has been based in China for the past 10 years.

Separately, the firm has appointed brand and research consultant Michael Ellis as Director in its Hong Kong office. He joins with 16 years' research experience gained mainly in Hong Kong and China.
