In the US, Going Inc. co-founders Roy Rodenstein and Rebecca Xiong and startup developer Jason Toy have launched a firm called SocMetrics, which uses a system to rank and track online influencers and then introduce these individuals to agencies and brands.SocMetrics analyzes each social media user's influence by the number of peers connected with them, how relevant their posts are, and how much activity they drive across blogs, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
Using these metrics, the company then gives each user an influencer score across 100 categories such as food, travel, weddings, technology, start-ups etc.
SocMetrics also offers 'competitive influence reports', to provide a comparison of the social media influence for one or more brands, supported by information about the influencers following each one.
The service has been developed to help businesses pinpoint their most likely advocates, and determine how to encourage them to promote their messages.
It can also help clients monitor their marketing campaigns, by examining what the top influencers in different categories are saying.
