SocialMatica Debuts GOP Candidate Popularity Measure

March 28 2012

In the US, social media analytics specialist SocialMatica has introduced a dashboard which integrates social media sentiment and traditional media polling, to measure the popularity of each Republican candidate taking part in the GOP (Grand Old Party) primary election.

Gary HermansenFounded in 2010, SocialMatica has developed a social business platform based on a contextual and semantic analytics engine. This tool combines data analysis with social marketing expertise to drive campaign recommendations.

SocialMatica's new tool offers a weighted algorithm that combines the online sentiment gathered from its semantic data intelligence engine, with traditional media polling, in order to showcase candidate popularity and level of influence.

This analysis and ranking solution - which uses data gathered from sites such as Facebook, blogs, online news sites, discussion groups, Twitter feeds and LinkedIn - currently places Mitt Romney as the leader in the primary race and Rick Santorum in second place. However, SocialMatica's analysis also shows that Ron Paul creates and maintains the most topic-based web traffic and 'conversational visibility'.

Gary Hermansen (pictured), CEO of SocialMatica, comments: 'For the past few months we have been highlighting the importance and impact of social media within the GOP primary race. Through our proprietary technology we are able to clearly understand the channels of influence and social ranking for each GOP candidate.'
