Obama's Digital Analytics Director Goes It Alone

January 18 2013

President Obama's former Director of Digital Analytics Amelia Showalter has launched her own digital and quant consultancy, promising to bring what she describes as Obama's campaign's culture of 'rigorous testing and data analysis' to campaigns, organizations and companies.

Amelia ShowalterThe firm, Amelia Showalter LLC, will advise clients on how to improve their internal analysis of online fundraising and organizing to reach and engage a broader audience. In addition to digital consulting, she will offer model building, data analysis and experimental design.

On the Obama campaign, Showalter (pictured) led a Digital Analytics team that designed and implemented hundreds of experiments to improve the performance of all types of digital outreach. Prior to this, she served as a Political Consultant providing strategic analysis and micro-targeting models to dozens of campaigns and organizations. Additionally, she served as Director of Media Strategies with Changing Targets Media, developing TV targeting tools.

Commenting on the launch, Showalter said: 'My goal is to help organizations run strong testing programs, which provide the feedback needed to improve returns. Testing can provide answers to big strategic questions. What is the best way to harness behavioral and demographic data to increase response rates? What messages, tones, visual formats and calls to action work best for targeted audiences? How can social media and other digital outreach better integrate with offline contact? Experimentation helps organizations develop their own best practices and be much more effective at achieving their goals.'
