Twitter Buys British and French 'Social TV' Analysts

April 1 2014

Twitter has announced two further acquisitions in the field of 'social TV', French startup Mesagraph and UK firm SecondSync, both of which provide analysis of social media chat concerning TV programmes. Terms were not disclosed.

Twitter has also today announced plans to extend its global relationship with WPP insight division Kantar, which was until now a shareholder in SecondSync and worked with it as its recognised social TV partner.

SecondSync in a blog said that its current UK product will remain available for an 'interim period' and hinted that the buy would enable it to take its services 'to the next level - particularly in markets outside the United States.' The firm had also agreed a TV-related partnership with Facebook.

Mesagraph, in its blog, said its team would move over to the UK following the acquisition, and said the deal would allow it to 'work closely with TV networks, agencies, advertisers, producers and integrators to help those partners make the most out of Twitter.'

SecondSync's web site is at present unavailable while Mesagraph's is at www.mesagraph.com .
