Apptopia Raises $2.7m for App Store Data Platform

Mobile app intelligence provider Apptopia has raised $2.7m in a second round of seed funding, led by Sound Ventures and earmarked for develop of the company's next generation platform.

The investor firm is headed up by pop manager Guy Oseary and Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher, and was joined in the latest round by a number of other firms including existing investor Mark Cuban.

Apptopia, founded by CEO Eliran Sapir and COO Jonathan Kay, provides data on app store downloads, revenue and SDK use for 'every mobile app and every publisher in the world', and uses include competitor monitoring, strategy development and trend-spotting. Offices are in Boston and Kiev, Ukraine, and headcount has increased from eighteen to 42 employees in the last twelve months. To date, it has raised a total of $5m.

Sapir comments: 'We've seen tremendous growth over last year, tripling annual recurring revenue since the beginning of 2016. Not only is the sales growth incredible but we're honored that it comes from all-star customers such as Google, Pinterest, Facebook, NBC Universal, Philips, Deloitte, Telerik, Fyber, Airpush, Chartboost, Startapp, SendGrid and many more'.

According to Oseary, 'In this day in age, companies cannot afford to make decisions without insight and intelligence, especially in ultra-competitive markets like the app economy. More than the product though, I always say I like to invest in relationships and people. It's so important to have the combination of passion and vision that Eliran and Jon possess'.
