US social media analytics firm NetBase has introduced artificial intelligence image analysis capabilities, to identify and analyse visual post components including brand logos and keywords, and to provide a view of visual brand 'mentions'.NetBase develops social media tools to analyse consumer opinion, emotion and behaviour, using NLP and machine learning to process millions of posts on a daily basis. The firm claims its new platform is the first machine learning and AI solution to measure the impact of images on Instagram and other visual channels. Using these capabilities, NetBase says that social media and customer experience professionals can understand the full scale of a brand's conversation by tracking an influencer's product placement, event sponsorship signage reach, and fan-created content. The solution can also classify images by facial emotions, common scenery and everyday objects.
Chief Marketing Officer Paige Leidig (pictured) comments: 'More than three billion photos are uploaded and shared on the Internet every day, but solutions did not exist to enable brands to comb through this sea of content to see all the images their customers were sharing on social media unless the brand was explicitly tagged. Over the past two years we developed a next generation artificial intelligence framework to solve this. Since visual content is forty times more likely to be shared on social media than text, we can now give companies the most accurate social media analysis of both text and images'.
