Datadog Buy Boosts Product and UX Analytics Offer

May 6 2025

Cloud application monitoring and security specialist Datadog has announced the acquisition of Eppo, an experimentation platform which will be integrated with its new parent's existing Product Analytics suite.

Datadog logoTerms were not disclosed, although a report from Upstarts Media quoted on TechCrunch suggested the price may have been around $220m.

Eppo's platform allows users to experiment with options, gauging the potential success of different models. The platform taps AI and machine learning models, and provides confidence intervals for its projections. Based in San Francisco, the company has raised $47.5m in VC funding, according to Cunchbase.

Datadog provides an SaaS platform which integrates and automates the monitoring of infrastructure, application performance and user experience, and facilitates other operations including log management and cloud security. Clients are in a wide variety of company sectors and sizes. The firm says adding Eppo's experimentation capabilities allows for the creation of a full end-to-end product analytics solution on one platform: engineers can track code changes, data science leaders and product managers can design and measure impact with experiments, and business analysts can understand overall product usage and business outcomes.

Michael Whetten, VP of Product at Datadog, comments: 'The use of multiple AI models increases the complexity of deploying applications in production. This complexity makes it difficult for developers to quantify the business impact of different models, agent behaviors, prompts or UI changes. Experimentation solves this correlation and measurement problem, enabling teams to compare multiple models side-by-side, determine user engagement against cost tradeoffs and ultimately build AI products that deliver measurable value.' Chetan Sharma, founder and CEO of Eppo adds: 'With Datadog, we are uniting product analytics, feature management, AI and experimentation capabilities for businesses to reduce risk, learn quickly and ship high-quality products.'
