US-based firm CinemaCloudWorks (CCW), whose software helps studios and distributors plan and orchestrate the release of their movies, is suing Comscore for alleged abuse of its monopoly on box office data. The complaint, filed today in the US District Court for the Central District of California and reported on https://news.bloomberglaw.com , claims Comscore used its control of the box office data market to block CCW (trading as Atlas Distribution Co.) from competing in other areas: CCW's services include test screening suite iScreeningRoom; movie web site development; campaign performance monitoring; and online marketing.
CCW / Atlas says Comscore cut off its access to box office data, and states: 'Because there is no comparable data source, Atlas cannot fulfill its contractual obligations, support in-process and upcoming film releases, or sustain its business'.
DRNO is not aware of a response from Comscore at time of going to press.
The firms are online at www.cinemacloudworks.com and www.comscore.com .
