CSM Media Research has been chosen to provide the official ratings for television audience in Hong Kong, for the next six years. The new 'HKTAM' service will incorporate new PeopleMeter and content recognition technologies from Kantar, which is one of CSM's shareholders.

The contract was awarded by the HKTAM Founding Subscribers Committee or FSC, which consists of HOY TV, TVB, ViuTV and the HK4As, and is the third of its kind to be won by CSM, which was founded in 1997 and is a joint venture between CTR Market Research and Kantar. DRNO reported on its first winning of the Hong Kong contract in 2005, and its forming of a JV in 2014 to roll out the region's first cross-platform television audience measurement system using return path data (RPD) technology. It also won the contract in 2017.
The current service measures all viewing of terrestrial and non-terrestrial free TV, pay TV, OTT and satellite channels on television sets, including live, video-on-demand and catch-up viewing up to seven days later, for a total of 6.5m people aged 4 and above in the territory. Data is delivered to broadcasters, ad agencies and other on the morning of every working day. Digital audience measurement is being added, to provide a unified view of TV viewing across TV set, computer, tablet and smartphone.
