Zeta Global Co-founder Sculley Retires

NYC-based market cloud and trend reporting firm Zeta Global has announced the retirement of John Sculley, its co-founder and Vice Chairman. Sculley is a former President of PepsiCo and former CEO of Apple.

Zeta's platform helps clients uncover consumer intent and personalize experiences. Its Marketing Cloud, launched in 2018, combines identity, intelligence and omnichannel activation, backed by one of the industry's largest proprietary databases. Last autumn, the company announced it would acquire targeted marketing firm LiveIntent; and launched a new solution to measure ad performance and lift. Two months earlier it began publication of of the Zeta Economic Index (ZEI), described as 'a next-generation indicator of the state of the US economy'.

Sculley was Vice President of PepsiCo in the 1970s and President from 1977-83, at which point he moved to Apple, serving for more than ten years as the tech giant's Chief Executive.

Announced at a Board meeting following today's annual meeting of stockholders, and effective immediately, Sculley's retirement, at the age of 86, comes seventeen years after he founded the marketing and technology company with David A. Steinberg. While stepping down from the Board, he will remain Vice Chairman Emeritus and continue to advise Steinberg and the rest of the leadership team. No plans to replace him on the Board have been announced thus far.
