The ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) sets standards and verifies both data and processes for media brands and intermediaries across multiple platforms. The organisation is overseen by a Board which includes representatives from agencies, advertisers, media owners and trade bodies, nominated by five industry associations: the IPA, ISBA, NMA, PPA and IAB UK.
Hirsch (pictured) will take up the position on 1st August, as well as continuing in his role as NED at APL Media, where he supports the executive team with strategic insight and global expansion plans. He brings 30 years of experience in content marketing, from a wide range of brands including John Lewis, Waitrose and Sky. He was previously global CEO at international multi-channel content agency John Brown Media.
Hirsch says his remit includes continued expansion of the body's brand into new areas such as retail media and data privacy. ABC Chief Executive Simon Redlich comments: 'Derek has done a tremendous job as our Chair. He's been a great source of advice and a pleasure to work with. Andrew's appointment marks our next chapter. He brings extensive knowledge and a profound understanding of our industry, which will further support ABC's journey as we continue to apply our audit expertise across multiple areas. I look forward to our collaboration.'
