IDC Selects New Chairman

Tech intelligence and market analysis group International Data Corporation (IDC) has appointed David D'Alessandro as its new Chairman. He succeeds Steve Singh, who will continue to serve as a Board Director.

IDC was founded in 1964 and has historically been part of a larger group, IDG, alongside a communications and publishing wing known since 2022 as Foundry. However, with the divestment of Foundry, completed in March this year, IDC has capital with which to double down on its core business of delivering technology intelligence. The firm employs more than 1,100 analysts worldwide, providing global, regional and local expertise on technology, IT benchmarking and sourcing, and industry opportunities and trends in over 110 countries.

D'Alessandro (pictured) spent two decades at life insurance company John Hancock, rising from marketing executive to Chairman and CEO, leading the company through a high-profile IPO and its subsequent merger with Manulife Financial. Since then he has served as Chairman and CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment and held a seat on Major League Baseball's Special Task Force on the 21st Century. He is currently Chairman of Encore Event Technologies, owns restaurants in Boston and Cambridge, MA, and is the author of business books Brand Warfare, Career Warfare, and Executive Warfare.

Singh, the former Chairman and CEO of Concur and a former Member of the Executive Board of SAP, recently stepped into the role of interim CEO at Spotnana.
