Dataminr to Buy ThreatConnect

In New York, real-time public data analytics firm Dataminr is set to acquire ThreatConnect, an intelligence management platform for prioritizing threats across internal client data environments. The deal values ThreatConnect at around $290m.

Ted BaileyDataminr began as a Twitter analytics specialist, and has since broadened its offer to provide predictive insights on high-impact global events and news to clients in sectors including government, financial services and media. In the Spring of this year, the firm secured an $85m funding win followed by $100m in convertible financing, indicating it had bounced back from an apparent slight wobble in 2023.

ThreatConnect helps its clients - including corporations and government agencies in the US, UK and Australia - to continuously manage threat exposure and improve cyber resilience. Its solutions promise 'rich context, risk-based prioritization, and the ability to quickly and precisely act on emerging threats,' and are gathered into a single intelligence hub. With this addition to its portfolio, Dataminr says it AI agents 'will dynamically reason across both the internal and external data domains to deliver real-time intelligence that is context-aware, personalized, and automatically adapts to the unique needs of individual customers.'

Ted Bailey (pictured), founder and CEO of Dataminr, says the combination 'will fuse external public data signals and internal client data to pioneer the first-ever real-time Client-Tailored intelligence.' He adds: 'The future of Dataminr's real-time intelligence will be more relevant and actionable than ever before - enabling our clients to not just understand what is happening, but what it means to them, and how they should respond.'

ThreatConnect's team of 170 professionals will join Dataminr's team. The former's CEO Balaji Yelamanchili comments: 'ThreatConnect has spent years helping enterprises and government cyber defense organizations bring order to vast amounts of threat and risk intelligence... We are thrilled to join forces with Dataminr and combine our powerful platforms, creating new ways to deliver Client-Tailored intelligence and greater value to customers around the world.'
