Monique Perry to Sue Nielsen Following Dismissal

Nielsen's MD for Media in the Pacific region Monique Perry will sue the company for unfair dismissal, according to Australia-based media news outlet Mumbrella. Perry, who joined the company as an Account Manager in 1996, was dismissed in October, two weeks after her husband, the firm's lead data engineer.

Perry has worked in MD roles at the company since 2013, and has been a high profile figure in Australian media measurement, through major contract wins, acquisitions, methodological controversies and innovative partnerships.

A report on web site Lawyerly, quoted by Mumbrella, says Perry's husband Ashley McMahon was dismissed on 17th October, and launched proceedings against the company at the Fair Work Commission. Nielsen claims Perry was then sacked after failing to return a company-owned laptop it had requested as part of the investigation; and alleges that she had uploaded thousands of commercially sensitive documents and stored some of them on her personal iCloud account. Her barrister Bilal Rauf has confirmed with Mumbrella that she will shortly file a claim for unlawful adverse action - a Federal Court this week dismissed her urgent bid for temporary reinstatement but has allowed her broader claims against Nielsen to proceed. Rauf told the judge the decision to terminate Perry was 'made in haste' to prevent her from seeking legal advice.

Perry has denied Nielsen's allegations but neither she nor Nielsen is able to comment further on the case at present.
