Germany-based environmental consultancy and services firm RSK Group formed Fortia Insight after its recent acquisition of the strategy, economic and policy (SEP) consultancy services arm of RSM UK - this was merged with an existing subsidiary, economic research consultancy, ERS, which joined RSK in 2022.
Fortia provides support for evidence-based policy and strategy, contributing to sustainable economic, social and environmental outcomes. The firm employs teams of economists, researchers, data analysts and evaluation specialists.
Siraut brings more than 40 years' experience in transport and economic development, ranging from work on major infrastructure projects including HS2, Dublin Metrolink, Crossrail, Lower Thames Crossing and Silvertown Tunnel, to policy initiatives such as London's Ultra Low Emission Zone and Direct Vision Standards. He also chairs the Transport Economics, Finance and Appraisal Committee at the European Transport Conference and serves on the Department for Transport's Joint Analysis Development Panel.
In his new role, Siraut will lead Fortia's transport economics practice, supporting clients with strategic appraisal, business cases, investment planning and policy design across all transport modes.
Fortia Insight Senior Director Declan Mackin says of the hire: 'John's appointment marks a significant milestone in Fortia Insight's growth. John's depth of experience and commitment to evidence-based policy will be invaluable as we help clients navigate complex infrastructure and policy challenges.'
