The global MR industry's daily paper since 2000

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

December 22 2025

That's It for 2025 from DRNO - the news flow is slowing and we're going to take our usual Christmas and New Year break, and return on 5th January as many others seem to be doing. For those who do Christmas: Have a great one! To all of you regardless, thanks for reading this year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year2025 has been our second year without the amazing Mel Crowther in charge of the news desk: we still miss her and probably always will, but we have a great community of readers, advertisers and contacts, and are reassured by some of the feedback we have, that we're keeping the flag flying OK and upholding our claim to be the MR industry's global daily paper. Things look bright for 2026. We've recently been joined by Sophie Goddard who is helping develop our ad business, and it's been great to have her on the team and to introduce her to many of you over the last few weeks.

For 2026, we have considerable plans, but two stand out. The beta launch this spring of our 'InsightClopedia' has worked well enough to convince us of its value and potential, and also of the hard work involved in maximising that: we're likely to take someone on soon to work full time on it, and in any case will be going full steam ahead with its development and promotion. Secondly, the job board has continued despite really low numbers, reflecting a difficult environment for jobseekers generally: we're very keen not just to let it tick over but to be of as much help in the careers of researchers worldwide as we can be, so the model for it is likely to be changed, in February or March latest, to bring in a lot more vacancies.

A huge Thanks to our advertisers, especially those who come back year after year and have a regular or continuous presence in our news emails and on the site. We are entirely supported by ads, unlike most of the industry's publishers; believe it's a sound model for the future in this niche, b2b market; and are happy to report some great stats in terms of views and clickthroughs - we have some nice testimonials from advertisers added to this year's brochure. Nevertheless, we couldn't do this without you and we are truly grateful.

To all our readers, have a wonderful holiday and a good rest. Here's to a happy and prosperous year coming up!
