January 16 2026

In Chicago, SPINS, a provider of CPG data, insights and commerce solutions has announced the acquisition of eCommerce enablement and analytics specialist MikMak.

Rachel TipographMikMak helps its clients to convert digital prospects to customers and prevent shopping cart abandonment. Two years ago it struck a deal with consumer data giant Circana, promising to enhance these services and to give clients data on off-line sales lift from digital marketing, and last year it added pricing intelligence services. A major new version of its platform, MikMak 4.0, is due for release shortly, promising brands the ability to optimize marketing spend across their entire tech stack and partner ecosystem.

SPINS combines data, technology and expertise in three commercial platforms - Foundry, Intelligence, and Journey to help CPG companies engage their shoppers and grow their business. The firm says the buy significantly accelerates its services to engage and measure engagement with shoppers throughout the buying journey, and across 'physical, digital and agentic shelves.' This includes providing 'an unparallelled level of granularity' on consumer preference and behavior, on shelf and online, to power more efficient marketing spend for brands of all sizes.

SPINS CEO Jay Margolis notes: 'The days of simple see-and-buy are behind us. Our customers are facing a more informed, more digital, and more complex shopper than ever before. By joining forces with MikMak, we are able to combine the industry's best, most attribute-rich dataset with the best media platform to immediately improve our customers' ability to plan, execute and measure modern shopper engagement.'

Rachel Tipograph (pictured), founder and CEO of MikMak, adds: 'We are motivated by a powerful mission - to grow brands in real time. In SPINS, we found a team that thinks the way we do and shares our relentless focus on helping customers keep pace with the evolving commerce world.'

NYC-based investment banking and M&A advisory firm BrightTower served as exclusive financial advisor to MikMak and its existing investor, Wavecrest Growth Partners.
