Salesforce Buys Conversation Analyst Momentum

Global CRM giant Salesforce is to acquire San Francisco-based conversational insights and revenue orchestration platform Momentum.

Momentum was founded in 2020 by husband and wife team Santiago Suarez Ordoñez and Ashley Wilson, along with engineering lead Moiz Virani. Its software integrates 'seamlessly' into clients' existing tech stacks and captures customer intelligence via call recordings, emails and Slack, then analyzes them to predict and prevent customer churn, spot risks, streamline processes and automate routine tasks. In July 2024 the company secured $13m in Series A funding.

Salesforce says that following the buy, Momentum's 'universal ingestion engine' will integrate with its Agentforce 360 and Slackbot tools, improving their ability to ingest and analyze unstructured data from third-party voice and video channels, including Zoom and Google Meet, and apply those insights directly to agentic workflows. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce's fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.

Salesforce President and CPO Steve Fisher comments: 'To deliver on the promise of agents, we need visibility and context from every meaningful interaction. Momentum accelerates our roadmap by unlocking the long tail of conversational data and bringing it directly into our platform.'

Suarez Ordoñez (pictured), who prior to co-founding Momentum was Director of Engineering at SauceLabs, says Momentum was founded with the aim of 'bridging the gap between unstructured conversation and structured action,' and adds: 'Joining Salesforce allows us to close the loop for GTM teams, transforming the static audio of a meeting into structured intelligence that drives immediate revenue impact.'
