PetaSight Buys Business Data Analyst Babbage Insight

US life sciences research software company PetaSight Inc. has acquired Babbage Insight Two Inc., which develops technology for business insight generation and signal validation. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

PetaSight aims to help clients avoid the fragmentation of primary market research operations across 'disconnected tools and manual handoffs', providing a unified software layer combining automated workflow governance and the keeping of a permanent digital record of data lineage, ensuring 'transparency and traceability' across the research lifecycle.

The buy brings Babbage Insight's patent-pending engines, which analyse and pull insights from structured business data, into PetaSight's platform, turning it into 'an intelligent OS.' The firms says this will allow life sciences teams to move 'from raw data to decision-ready intelligence' within a single software environment. Co-ordination of people and vendors is automated, and insights and signals within complex data can be algorithmically tested, prioritized and explained.

Sandeep Sankhla, CEO of PetaSight, says the integration 'adds a sophisticated intelligence layer to our governance platform, positioning PetaSight as the essential software ecosystem for global organizations requiring speed and uncompromised rigor.' Manu Bhardwaj (pictured), COO of Babbage Insight, adds: 'Trust in data is fundamentally a software problem, not just a sampling problem. Researchers discard roughly 38 percent of survey data due to quality concerns. PetaSight brings the governed workflow and evidence trails; Babbage adds a deterministic validation layer designed to test and explain signals. Together, this creates a stronger operating model for life sciences PMR.'

The integration will focus initially on signal identification and quality control modules, with plans to bring data orchestration, validation and synthesis together at a later date.
