Audio, imaging and computing tech company Xperi, the parent of TiVo, Inc., has enhanced its in-vehicle radio intelligence portal to give broadcasters more comprehensive and timely audience analysis.
Xperi Corp. merged with entertainment technology and TV data provider TiVo in a $3bn deal in 2019. Xperi's services now include a cross-screen ad platform called TiVo One, and DTS AutoStage, which taps data from drivers of more than 16 million vehicles worldwide to personalize entertainment and information services. A Broadcaster Portal for the latter data was first launched in 2023, and this week added a premium tier.
Xperi says DTS AutoStage Broadcaster Portal Premium gives subscribing radio stations access, for the first time, to competitive station rankings by daypart (delivered in near real time) as well as expanded and exportable music charts. Joe D'Angelo (pictured), the company's SVP of Commercial Strategy and Partnerships, says it knew it was ' capturing lightning in a bottle' when it first launched the AutoStage portal, 'providing radio stations with a level of visibility into their audience that had not previously existed.' The enhanced tier is the result of continuing conversations with broadcasters across the US and enables broadcasters 'of every size - from major-market leaders to local community stations - to see where their stations rank in their markets and neighboring markets, at any hour of the day.'
The Portal analyzes more than 12 billion pieces of data monthly and is currently used by thousands of stations across the US. Sample sizes range from 247,000 vehicles in NYC to 1.464 in Kokomo, IN, the smallest monitored. 'Sixty-six percent of U.S. adults listen to AM/FM radio daily, making radio one of the most powerful forces in media,' continues D'Angelo, '- and most of that listening is done in the car, with only the tiniest slice of that audience represented in traditional listening analytics.' DTS AutoStage now spans 13 major automotive brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Hyundai, Genesis, Kia, BMW, MINI, Ford, Lincoln, Nissan, Infiniti, Tesla and Audi.
Xperi's partner firm DTS offers audio solutions for mobile devices, home theater systems, cinema and other locations, and is online at www.dts.com , while Xperi is at www.xperi.com .
