In the US, eCommerce behavioral intelligence specialist Malachyte has secured $10 million in seed funding, with which to scale distribution and expand its senior commercial and product leadership teams.
Headquartered in New York, Malachyte provides real-time, adaptive personalization software that works without cookies, logins or pre-existing customer data and aims to increase revenue per visitor for consumer e-commerce brands, across every channel, starting with their first session. The firm says the system uses two-headed vector AI to understand preference and intent simultaneously, 'the same way an actual shopper does, leveraging visuals and context rather than keywords or tags.' The solution ties together cross-channel behavior which means a signal picked up in search 'sharpens what that same shopper sees later on a product page, a category page, or in an email or SMS the next day.'
The firm was co-founded by CTO Ian Anderson, COO Shivaditya Sinha and CEO Sidd Motwani (pictured left to right), the team behind the behavioral intelligence infrastructure that powers more than 90% of Spotify's recommendations across more than 800 million users.
'Brands are paying more than ever to acquire customers,' says Motwani, 'then trying to convert them with a stack that only understands the fraction it already recognizes. Our technology reads behavior instead of logins or cookies, so it understands every visitor before their first click, and keeps sharpening with every action.'
The round was co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Gradient Ventures, with participation from Harpoon Ventures. The firm can be found online at www.malachyte.com .
