In Johannesburg, South Africa, ad and media specialist Ornico has appointed former Nielsen commercial lead Hopolang Mothibeli as Commercial Director: Strategic Partnerships and Market Intelligence. The company is stepping up its ad intelligence offering to fill a perceived gap in the market.
Ornico boasts more than forty years of experience across the advertising and media industries, and its offer spans editorial and advertising monitoring services - for TV, radio and print media - social media analytics, and advanced brand research. The firm has provided measures of ad expenditure since 1999.
Mothibeli (pictured) joins from AGB Nielsen Media Research South Africa, where she served as AD and Commercial Lead, playing a key role in the ratings giant's ad intelligence offering prior to its decision last year to pull out of the country.
Ornico says Nielsen's departure leaves 'a significant gap' in the market for dependable, locally-rooted data, and has recruited Mothibeli to 'lead the charge in filling this void.' She brings more than fifteen years of experience in business development, account management and media research, including nine years focused specifically on media research and measurement - this includes advertising intelligence, ad spend analysis, audience measurement and custom media research. She holds a Master of Management degree in Strategic Marketing from Wits Business School and an Honours degree in Strategic Brand Communication from Vega Schooll, and is a member of the IAB South Africa Research and Measurement Council.
Oresti Patricios, CEO of Ornico comments: 'We've been in the ad-spend game for over two decades, but the arrival of Hopolang Mothibeli still feels like a massive win for us. She's a veteran who truly 'gets' the perspective of both broadcasters and agencies. After years of collaborating on industry councils, I know her experience is second to none, but it's her commitment to the industry's growth that makes this partnership so exciting.'
