Interim CFO Promotion and Webcam Launch for Tobii

Eye tracking hardware and software pioneer Tobii has promoted Sales Controller Martin Johansson to Acting CFO, effective next week. Separately, the firm launched a locally installed version of its Webcam eye tracking for research.

Tobii says its search for a permanent CFO is likely to be completed after the completion of an ongoing strategic review. The review involves talks with external parties, with evaluation of options including business divestments, partnerships and capital raising, but the firm says there is no guarantee of specific results from it.

Johansson has worked in his current role since joining the company in July 2022, and has more than fifteen years' experience in finance at international organizations, most recently Ubisoft Entertainment, and previously Duni AB and Axis Communications. He succeeds Åsa Wirén, who has served in the Interim CFO role since May 2025, and is leaving the company to relocate abroad on September 30th. But will continue to support Tobii during a transition period.

The new, locally installed version of its Webcam eye tracking for research is fully integrated into Tobii Pro Lab, and gives researchers a way to run supervised studies on-site, using standard computers and webcams for studies where dedicated eye tracking hardware is not required. This complements the Distributed Online research tool launched in June 2026 - the local version is built for supervised settings such as labs, classrooms and clinics, where researchers maintain full control over the study environment and conditions. According to Gunnar Troili, SVP Products and Solutions, the launch means 'researchers can now use Tobii Webcam eye tracking across a wider range of study designs, from large-scale distributed studies to supervised, on-site research.' He adds: 'It's more than just a tool - it is an extension of the Tobii Pro Lab ecosystem, designed to help researchers bring eye tracking into new contexts using familiar methods and workflows.'
