Consumer data and behavioral intelligence firm Alliant has appointed Joseph Byrum as Chief Data and Engineering Officer.
Alliant combines detailed transactional data with insights based on psychology, to provide a 'complete' view of consumer behavior, and help clients understand motivations and anticipate actions. Last year it acquired predictive analytics and marketing data firm AnalyticsIQ, which used survey-based methodology and machine learning to model consumer behavior and intent - and moved the acquired firm's CEO Scarlett Shipp into the role of Chief Exec of the combined company.
Byrum brings more than two decades of experience across data science, technology, analytics and AI, with senior leadership roles spanning biotech, asset management and financial services. Most recently he was CTO at Consilience AI, and previously Chief Data Scientist at asset manager Principal Financial Group. Earlier he spent eleven years at Syngenta. He holds more than 50 patents, and earned a Ph.D. in genetics from Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
In his new role, Byrum will lead Alliant's data strategy, data science, and the engineering capabilities behind its technology, expanding its use of AI and machine learning.
'Innovative data has always been at the heart of what makes Alliant unique,' says Shipp, 'and Joseph is exactly the right leader to carry that forward. As we bring our data and technology closer together, his experience building and scaling quality platforms will help us move faster from strategy to execution and deliver even more value to our clients and partners.'
