Australian Election Guru Launches UK Consultancy

July 18 2005

Lynton Crosby, who directed the UK Conservative Party's general election campaign, is opening a UK office of his Australian-based research and consulting firm CrosbyTextor. The UK operation will be led by George Bridges MBE, former Chair of the Conservative Party's Research Department.

The company, founded by Crosby and Mark Textor, conducts opinion research and provides advice to clients who want to run campaigns targeted at customers, voters or politicians. As well as his work with the Conservative Party, Crosby was Campaign Director for the Australian Prime Minister John Howard's 1998 and 2001 election victories. Textor was the official pollster and campaign strategist for Howard's Liberal Party in the 1996, 1998, 2001 and 2004 federal elections.

Bridges, who will act as MD of the London office, has 14 years experience in politics, the media and business in the United Kingdom, having worked on several national and international campaigns - both political and commercial. In 2004, he became Chairman of the Conservative Party's Research Department, where he was responsible for the party's strategy, policy formation and political research. Before this, he worked at Quiller Consultants, a strategic communications consultancy, and in the Political Office in 10 Downing Street, where he was Assistant Political Secretary to the then Prime Minister.

Both Crosby and Textor will visit the UK office regularly from their base in Australia. 'Our experiences here over the past year have convinced us that we can offer real value to UK businesses. They compete in a global marketplace, and they need international expertise,' said Crosby. Textor explained what the company can offer: 'CrosbyTextor gives clients an insight into the public, corporate, and political mind. It then adds real value by going beyond the numbers to help clients implement a campaign to change people's perceptions and behaviour.'

CrosbyTextor, which is online at www.crosbytextor.com , also has offices in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.
