Sports Marketing Surveys is extending its tennis research programme from the US to provide directly comparable analysis of the equipment market in the five biggest Western European economies. The new European Tennis Survey is supported by many of the major global tennis manufacturers.

The syndicated survey will be Europe's biggest and most focused tennis research programme amongst the specialist tennis retail market, covering France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. Companies supporting the programme include: Babolat, Dunlop Slazenger, Fischer, Head Sport, Prince, Volkl, Wilson, and Yonex.

Tennis retailers will be surveyed on topics including:

  • Customer profiles
  • Tennis sales forecasts by equipment category
  • Brand share and brand ratings - including promotion, product innovation, customer service & overall performance
  • Brand distribution & average number of models carried by brand
  • Best selling model predictions, and a rating assessment on latest equipment technologies and the benefits provided
  • Retailer feedback on each brand.
The first fieldwork is already underway and reports on all five markets are due to be completed for early December.
