Brahm Launches Public Consultation Service

Multi-disciplinary UK communications agency Brahm has announced the launch of a comprehensive public consultation and communications service called inperspective, aimed at the public sector, utilities, the transportation sector and property developers.

Inperspective is aimed at any private sector business planning a major works project where public support is required to secure planning approval and/or external funding. Thought to be one of the first of its kind, it will incorporate many disciplines to deliver the consultation process; strategic planning, qualitative and quantitative research techniques, editorial and advertising campaigns, public exhibitions and meetings, direct mail, interactive web sites, presentations and printed material, all of which Brahm can fulfil internally.

The launch is set against the background of the government's Planning Bill, which some say will centralise power and remove a layer of democracy. Brahm is already investigating the role of proposed Regional Assemblies and will be publishing the research in the spring.

The agency has recently worked on major consultation exercises associated with public works for clients including Doncaster Racecourse, Yorkshire Forward, Leeds City Council and the Environment Agency.

'Securing public understanding and support for major capital and public works projects is increasingly a prerequisite for planning decisions and funding, and few project leaders have either the impartiality, the time or the resource to handle the consultation process themselves', says Robin Horsfield, Head of Research at Brahm.

'There are undoubtedly PR and research agencies out there working with third parties, claiming to deliver the sort of service we are offering but, to our knowledge, we are one of the first to fulfil the service totally from our own in-house resources'.
